The Veterans One-stop Center of WNY announced that veterans and their families will be provided on-site legal services in partnership with the Neighborhood Legal Services and the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo. Legal services are the newest addition to the suite of services and resources that are provided to veterans and their families in one convenient location at the Veterans One-stop Center of WNY. Eligible veterans will receive legal services at no cost. The legal services will be offered on-site at the Veterans One-Stop Center of WNY’s Buffalo location on 1280 Main Street, Buffalo, NY.
This partnership will allow the Veterans One-stop Center of WNY to expand its efforts to provide barrier-free access to the resources and services that veterans and their families need to complete the transition from military to civilian life. Since inception in 2013, the Veterans One-stop Center has served over 10,000 veterans, including providing financial counseling, women and family services, and education resources. Providing legal services is the next step to expanding reach to all Western New York veterans. The partnership will provide easily accessible civil legal services for veterans and their families for issues such as Disability Related Matters, Housing Discrimination Cases, Bankruptcies, and more and will assist veterans in identifying and addressing their civil legal issues on-site at the Veterans One-stop Center of WNY.
“We are excited to announce the collaboration with two great organizations; Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo and Neighborhood Legal Services,” said Chuck Marra, President and CEO of Veterans One-stop Center. “Our legal program promotes self-sufficiency, stability, and financial security for veterans through all-inclusive and accessible legal services. Our unique model of providing services on-site allows access to veterans who would otherwise go without the legal help they need.”
“Neighborhood Legal Services is honored to partner with Veterans One-stop of WNY and the Legal Aid Bureau to provide greater access to justice for those brave men and women who have served our country,” said Lauren Breen, Executive Director for Neighborhood Legal Services. “Through legal assistance, low-income veterans and their families can confront many of the challenges associated with meeting basic human needs. Neighborhood Legal Services looks forward to building a more secure safety net for veteran families in need. “
“The Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo is proud to announce its partnership with the Veteran’s One-stop Center of Western New York and Neighborhood Legal Services; a collaboration formed specifically to meet the civil legal needs of veterans and their families. We look forward to making a positive impact on the lives of our veterans through our newly-formed partnership.” said Paul B. Curtin, Deputy Executive Director of the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo.
